Trumpeting for the arts

“Trumpeting For the Arts” is an instrument donation program that has been running from 2015 to 2025, and its ongoing impact during and after the COVID-19 pandemic.

During the initial years of the program, we were thrilled to see the positive influence of our donations across various public schools. A total of three recipients (2015-18) in Richmond Public Schools graduated, showcasing their dedication and talent. Similarly, in Brunswick County Public Schools, three students received instruments: two graduated successfully, while one returned the trumpet. One graduated and attended college, where they majored in music performance. In Mecklenburg County Schools, we encountered mixed outcomes, with one student returning a trumpet. Nevertheless, it is heartening to see students engaging with music in diverse ways.

Looking ahead, from 2022 to 2025, we will continue our mission. We have already donated two trumpets to a student in Henrico County Public Schools (202,2) who will attend high school next year, and a fourth grader in Chesterfield County Schools (2024). Three violins for the after-school program in partnership with the Peter Paul Development Center’s Music Orchard RVA, ensuring that young musicians have the opportunity to explore their talents. Additionally, in Brunswick County Public Schools (2024), one trumpet was donated. Meanwhile, a clarinet student at Lunenburg County Middle School (2023 has continued to thrive, playing in both the marching band at Lunenburg High School. A clarinet was donated to a student at Hopewell High School during the school’s fall art and music festival. A clarinet was also given to a 10th grader at Huguenot High School (2024), who is now an 11th grader, demonstrating the lasting impact of music education.

For this year, we are excited to announce our early plans to ,expand our reach further. We aim to donate two violins to students at Martin Luther King Middle School in RVA, an 8th grader at Thomas Boushall Middle school, as well as a trumpet and flute to students at the Anna Julia Cooper School in RVA. Our commitment to providing instruments and fostering musical talent remains strong, and we are eager to see how these donations will inspire and uplift more young musicians in our community.

Your donations and support, together, we are making a significant difference in the lives of these students and nurturing a love for the arts. 725 looks forward to our ongoing collaborations and any suggestions you might have to enhance our program.

Trumpeting for the arts

Trumpeting for the Arts is a program dedicated to empowering talented public school students through music. We identify students who demonstrate proficiency in their instrument and provide them with their very own instrument, complete with a case and mouthpiece.

To ensure a commitment to their education, we ask that students maintain quality grades in music and all other subjects. Our goal is to foster a deep appreciation for music, particularly jazz, and to educate students about its rich history and cultural significance as a national treasure. Through this program, we strive to inspire the next generation of musicians and enhance their understanding of the arts.

Join us in supporting young artists and promoting the invaluable role of music in education!
